SITD, stylised [:SITD:], is a German EBM and industrial band founded in 1996 by Carsten Jacek and Thorsten Lau as Shadows in the Dark. Bone-crunching beats, apocalyptical electro hymns and very energetic live appearances…

Some people come by the "industrial" tag more honestly than others, and this German trio can lay more legitimate claim to it than most. Carsten Jacek, Thomas Lesczenski, and Francesco D'Angelo all hail from Germany's Ruhr region, a former center of steel and coal production; the band had its first success in a local music contest called, believe it or not, "Rock Around Bochum."

After almost forty live dates around the USA, Europe, Russia and Australia in 2006, Snog emerged from the recording studio in 2007 (unlike the Romans of which they sing) victorious. For their latest release, The Last Days of Rome, Snog turn their back on their most recent outings of barbed satirical electro-punk and instead offer a new brand new album of historical narratives and charming tone poems set in palatable electro-pop surroundings.

German Electro-superstars [:SITD:], short for ‘Shadows in the Dark’, are back this fall with their eagerly expected all new album! Expect nothing less than Bone-crunching beats, catchy hymns, electro purity and apocalyptic atmospheres from one of the most respected German Electro outfits, active and successful in the scene for now 15 years! 15 years!? Yes, indeed – although it seems like yesterday, when in [:SITD:] first burst onto the international Electro sceen in 2001 as support act on VNV NATION’s ‘Future Perfect’ tour and soon after with their instant club classic ‘Snuff Machinery’ (2002), but the project was in (embryonal) existance since spring 1996. Hailing from Germanys real industrial heartland, the former coal and steel centers of the Ruhr area, [:SITD:] made a name for itself for long and today they are considered to be one of the most acclaimed electronic projects in the present international club scene.

[:SITD:], with their apocalyptic and ravaging approach to electro/industrial, have stated themselves to be somewhat of a ruling class in this genre, having received a number of awards from 2003 to 2007. With Icon:Koru, the band sets out to take the listener on a massive if somewhat inconsistent journey.

In [:SITD:]'s cosmos various electronic styles melt into a sinister fascinating opus with an unmistakable signature. Their equally sweeping and hymnlike melodies, supported by hammering beats and driving grooves, have become a unique trademark. The three protagonists Carsten Jacek, Tom Lesczenski, and Francesco D'Angelo reinvent themselves time and again without denying their musical roots.
